Hannah Meloche
For this project I knew I wanted to talk about someone that I actually watch and support, because I feel like I truly understand the person’s values and intentions with their content. I chose Hannah Meloche who is a 20 year old influencer and entrepreneur who mainly posts on YouTube and Instagram. We are similar in age and have common interests so I was immediately drawn to Meloche when I first started watching her. I enjoyed her content for seeing her style and her traveling videos since I was intrigued how she kept up with school at the same time. As she gets older, her content continues to mature and change for the better.
Her content is very easy to access so researching her was very easy for this project. Also, I knew which videos I wanted to include in my project to represent her since I already had watched them in my free time. However, I struggled to find certain posts that showed her values on her Instagram so that I could add that to my presentation. I had to dig deeper to find the videos that showed what she wanted to promote to her followers. Another struggle I had was working with IMovie, I always struggle with the formatting and storage when it comes to this application. I worked on my cell phone so I could screen record her content and import it into IMovie. Screen recording all the content was the easiest part, but forming it all to fit the way I wanted was difficult.
I concluded that most of her followers are around the same age as her since she posts with other influencers that are the same age. It is mostly teenage girls commenting and following all of the other influencers that Meloche hangs out with. This draws more attention to her page as she collaborates with other people to keep her followers interested and gain a new audience.
I enjoyed doing this project, I knew Meloche’s content is very relatable yet she changes up her surroundings and the projects she’s working on to keep everybody interested. As a digital author, she does a great job of changing her content to match the new trends that happen, or she is good at moving on to new applications that become popular like Tik Tok. Although she can afford to travel and buy nice things with her income from her career, she is not like other influencers who want to show off everything they have. She still lives with her parents and shows her family in her videos which I think makes her super authentic. This project was an interesting way to look at one of my favorite influencers in a different way.
